Aryna Sabalenka

Sabalenka is a native of Minsk, the capital of Belarus. Sergey, her father (who passed away in the year 2019) was a hockey ice player. Aryna Sabalenka was born in Minsk, Belarus on May 5th, 1998. In her career she has won twelve WTA singles titles, including one Grand Slam at the 2023 Australian Open. For doubles she's a great player. She's won two Majors alongside Elise Mertens in the US Open in 2019 and the Australian Open in 2021. In 2019, she won each of WTA 1000 and the WTA 1000 and Miami Open in Indian Wells with her Belgian partners, making The Sunshine Double. The feat was made possible by four couples participating in women's doubles. Then, in January 2023 was ranked the highest in singles. The 23rd day of August in 2021, she shot up to number two in the rankings. In doubles however she pushed herself into first position during February of that same year, following the win in Melbourne making her the second tennis player born in Belarus to be a part of this particular area. Dmitry Tursunov, a former Russian tennis player, played with her throughout the 2018 season to the close and into part of the 2020 season. It was also a short time that she teamed up with Dieter Kindlmann in August until September 2020. She is being trained by her countryman Antonio Dubrov since the end of 2020. Serena Williams, and Maria Sharapova have been her biggest idols.
